June Socks Just in Time!

Sorry for the lousy picture; they just got finished at 11:45 tonight! KnitPicks Bare fingering dyed with KoolAid, knit with US 1 DPNs using a generic sock template tweaked by me. They started as Horcrux socks, but I didn't like the combo of striped yarn and lightning shaped scars. The Koolaid color recipes are at my blog.

Now off for a snack before bed; I've been knitting frantically for a while! LOL

Here's my pair for June, still have 4 pairs on needles and two of the pairs that just need toes.

This pair I sent to my SP10 pal and they fit, Woot.

Have a great Long Weekend! Time to finish those socks for July.

More Baby Socks!

While I am working on grown up ones, I have been churning out baby ones as presents. Here is the latest favorite for June. I really love the knit/slip heel.

Just under the wire

Finished my socks for this month tonight. They're baby socks but they are still socks. Chevron Lace Baby socks from Interweave knits. I have done a lot of knitting this month but most of my sock knitting has ended in frogging. I have one pair in particular that has been frogged and reknit no less that 6 times trying to find a stitch pattern that works with the yarn. June was not a good month for my knitting. I hope to have better results in July. Photo is not very good but it is late here. Will try to get a better picture tomorrow in the sunlight.

Hey, I made it!

I just very recently joined the group, and this is my very first blog entry ever. Here are my June socks, made from Meilenweit Bosco in color #3512. They are toe up with Turkish cast on, garter stitch short row heel ala Lucy Neatby, and Elizabeth Zimmermann's sewn bind off. I used Knit Picks classic circulars in size 0, at 9 spi.

I have so enjoyed viewing everybody else's photos.

Here are my three pairs of socks I made in June, I almost forgot to post them. It's rather busy work life and have been working almost every weekend. Anyway, I also posted them in my 52 weeks pair KAL. I am way behind in the my 13 weeks but only 7 pair so far. OTN is another pair of chevon sock. I think it is going to be fast. The color chevon sork will be my friends' brithday. -Esther

June socks - just under the wire

I actually knit three pairs of socks in June. These are the first pair; completed the first few days of June. I've been very proficient in sock knitting but completely lazy with photographing and blogging about said socks. These are my favorite of the three pairs. They're the Little Child's Sock from Nancy Bush's Knitting Vintage Socks. I used J-Knits in the Indiana colorway. These were great fun to knit.

Hogwarts Swap Socks for June

I finished these some time ago; they've been hanging around waiting for blocking. It looks like THAT isn't happening this month, so here they are.

The cuff pattern was lifted from a lovely picture of the Yarn Harlot's socks here. I dyed the yellow yarn myself, but was afraid that if i hand-dyed the black it might bleed, so I bought that. When I get back from my camping trip, they will sail off to their new owner, my secret pal in the Hogwarts Sock Swap.

Yikes--I almost missed it!

I worked diligently to make sure these were done for June--and then I almost forgot to post them! I have many single socks done for the month, but I'm pretty sure this is my only completed pair--for my sockapalooooza pal.

Boy do I cut it close!! I finally finished my June socks.

I started them on June 2 and it took me all month to finish a pair of socks knit on size 5 dpns with worsted weight wool. Sad.

needles: Size 1 (2.5mm) Addi Turbos 40"
Magic loop two at once.
pattern: my usual toe up sock pattern with a simple little slip stitch pattern for interest.

I really liked knitting with yarn, and it was pretty even without the pattern. it's too bad Knit Picks is discontinuing the Memories line.

Early socks but late post

I finished these socks early in June but forget to put a photo in our blog. So they turned really late now. ;)

I knit this pair for a German knitalong and it is a handpainted yarn we used. It was fun to see how the colouring turned out with the different patterns.
By the way, this pair is just for myself. Nobody else will get it.

I finished these way back at the beginning of the month, but stupid blogger wouldn't let me upload them then and then I forgot! Here's a link to their picture, since the original is trapped on my dead laptop.

I'm hoping to get one more pair finished up tonight!

Two for June

I finished these two days ago, and just love the colorway. More pictures and pattern/yarn details are available.
Earlier this month, I also finished a pair of Hufflepuff socks for my Hogwarts Sock Swap pal. This particular type of chevron was a lot of fun to knit. Harry Potter fans will notice the Dobby touch in these socks (due to a dyelot error). More pictures and details in this post.

Cheers : )

Acccck!

Here they are...completed in Red Deer Alberta a week and a half ago....I can finish socks. I just can't photograph them promptly. They're the April kit from Red Bird Knits. I've already finished a waving lace sock in koigu (single one...they'll be July socks) since. Sigh. Just under the wire. Nice yarn. Nice socks. Pattern a little fiddly to knit, but love the results!!

There's just enough time to sneak in another June pair. Here are my Braided Rice Socks, knitted in Louet Gems from a pattern by Michelle Ogden. I'm really happy with these - both with the yarn and the design of the socks. More cable/textured socks are definitely in my future!

Knitwork! I finished the socks in the Mystery Kal for the Friendly Socks Group. Using the same white yarn, I also knit a pair of baby socks. That pattern is made up by me and the result is looking cute.

Entrelac socks, and silk socks

I've only completed two pairs in June, but they were done on size 0 needles, so took a lot longer than normal.

The first pair was in Regia silk, for a co-worker. They're a plain-vanilla pair, except for a little cable up both sides.

The second pair is based on Eunny Jang's entrelac socks pattern in Interweave Knits Spring 07 issue. Way back when she was blogging about entrelac socks (more here), she did them in Trekking, and I fell in love with that look, much more than the contrasted colours that ended up in the IK design.

Trekking doesn't actually repeat, so I'm totally surprised that the colours of the socks actually match each other. I was expecting to have more fraternal-looking socks.

Another photo, another mod: I didn't do the cast-off triangles but left the squares because I like the cuff better that way. The other major mod was to switch to size 1 needles after the heel. Otherwise, it was really hard to get the socks past my ankles.

June Sockotta Footies

So here are my socks for June, a plain ole pair of Sockotta footies in cool, summery stripes.

And look! The stripes actually seem to match up!

Tina

And yet another

Well, ONE of them was knitted this month. I started this pair from Nancy Bush's Vintage Sock knitting book; its the Fancy Silk Sock, and I knitted the first sock months ago in my vintage sock KAL. Then finally this month I felt confident enough about lace knitting socks to knit the second one. Notice the second one is noticeably bigger than the first. I used sz 0 US bamboo dpns for both, and I tried and tried to knit tighter as I saw the sock getting larger than the other. Didn't work, though, and I didn't have any smaller needles.
Now, I do. I bought 2 sets of sz 000 circs, one from Addi and one(for a third of the money) Hiya hiya from the Knitting Zone. There doesn't seem to be any such thing as a 00 US needle.
And the size difference in these two socks also reinforces my policy of knitting 2 socks on 2 circs since I learned how to do it. The socks turn out exactly alike. I just juse both ends of the same ball of yarn until it is gone, as that makes it so much easier to periodically let hang and turn to untangle.

Sockapalooza socks for June

My June socks are for my Sockapalooza pal. I'm very pleased with myself that I got them done early, since they're not due until August. See what a commitment to a sock a month knitalong will do for you?Pattern: Conwy, from Knitting on the Road by Nancy Bush
Yarn: Tulip (twist) from Sunshine Yarns.

A closer look at the stitch detail:This was a very satisfying knit. As a bonus, The Yarn Harlot herself even posed with the beginnings of this sock. I hope my pal likes them!
