Socks of Doom... again! This time in red 100% Merino Superwash (Cool Wool 2000 from Lana Grossa). Thankfully a quick knit and since I knit them a few times for Sock Wars by heart without the pattern.
Next socks... who knows? Maybe Jaywalkers?

I made it!

With less than 45 minutes left in the month I finally finished my May socks.
These are the Springtime in Paris socks that were the February/March socks for the six sox kal. I used a short row heel instead of the flap/gusset the pattern had. These are done in Baby Ull, the baby blue color, on size 0 needles.

2 for me!

I've got 2 pairs completed and 4 pairs started, talk about knitters ADD. Here they(minus the one in the background) are a little pair of baby socks in some leftover Regia for donation and a pair of Hocrux's in Patons Kroy "Winter Eclipse". Love the Hocrux's, very nice pattern and a great way to get in gear for Harry Potter!

Happy Knitting,

Two little socks for May

Here's my socks for May. They're toddler / child socks intended for Dulaan .The pattern is a simple cable rib . The blue ones are done with Briggs & Little Tuffy . The red ones are knit with Elann Peruvian highland wool . Hope they keep some little child's feet warm !

Just in Time

I finally finished a pair of socks for May. They are just plain stockinette socks knit in OnLine Highlander. 68 stitches on size 1 needles. Can I have a "Y" please?

I'm Back!

Hi all!

I've been missing for a couple of weeks while my computer was broken, but now I have a new one and I'm back. For everyone in my group the sidebar *should* be up to date now. :)

Down to the wire in every way possible

Here are my May socks! They're Elfine socks, knit from something I had in my stash and lost the yarn labels for. I'm pretty sure it's a cotton, and it was three stranded yarn- pink, green and white- but that made it a bit thick for socks so I pulled out the white strand as I went along. You'll notice, though, that there's a white band at the top and you can sort of see the white bit of the heel. That's because I had no clue how much yarn I had, so when I got to the heel of the first sock and realized I had about a third of the skein left I took the white yarn I hadn't been using and knit the heel out of that. The second sock ended up on row 3 of the pattern instead of row 7 like the first sock, and while binding off I ran out of yarn half way around the sock. I had to take more of the leftover white yarn and finish binding off, so to make the socks look even I did single crochets around the top of both socks. Not quite what the pattern author had intended, but sometimes these things happen.

For more info, check out my blog. There'll be an entry about the whole sock fiasco there shortly.

~Rebecca

Monkey's of Barney

Can you tell which part of these socks is not like the other? No? Good.

My May sock are the Monkey socks knit in Barney Rubble by Socks That Rock in medium weight, except for the last inch of the toe on one sock. It is knit in Barney Rubble Lightweight.

There's not a visible difference. But they're two sizes too small for me so I have to hope that the difference felt on my sisters foot is not unbearable. But then again, it might be payback for all the times she's gotten under my skin and just rubbed me the wrong way! Jamie S. at http://knittingbandit.typepad.com/

Carie of the Knitted Bear

In the nick of time

Tiger socks finished and just in the nick of time. These are for my little boy aged 4. Knitted in Opal Rainforest Tiger. I have also just started Jaywalkers in the same yarn for me. I hope they'll make an appearance for next month's post.

Last of May socks

I am attempting to post this last pair of CIC socks to the SAM 3 KAL but so far having no luck. I knitted them as Magic 32s, 2 socks on 2 circulars, sz5US, and Cascade 220. This is my very favorite wool worsted and I confess to having enough of it in single skeins to keep me busy for quite a long time. AJW in AZ

PS. I actually did 5 pair this month. One of the pictures has 2 pair in it.

Bulletproof socks

Here are my May socks. They were made from Lopi on size 6 needles. I really think they are bulletproof. My hands were very happy to be done with them.

I will post the particulars on my blog but it will be a few days. We're leaving tomorrow for a long weekend and I don't know what the wireless situation is at the campground. Have a good weekend!

May Socks: Almost but Not Quite

knee high toe up hedera

I'm totally bummed that I won't have a completed pair this month, after all I knit three pairs last month and 2.5 pairs the month before that. I did however knit my first ever sweater at the beginning of this month, and the socks I'm working on are knee high black lace socks (modified hedera's with a reversed stitch pattern so the arrows still point towards the toes). It hasn't been an unproductive month, it's just that my projects have been a bit larger. So I leave you with the progress on these very slow to knit (but lovely to wear once it gets cold again) knee high black hedera socks. ~ fabienne

I think I finished another pair for May, but here's the 100% certain pair for the Hogwarts Sock Swap:

May Socks

Here are my stash-busting socks for May.

DGB Confetti 100

They are knit in DGB Confetti #100. Yet another pair of socks for my size 12 son. I did one on dpns and the other mostly on circulars. They were my experiment to see if I liked knitting on 2 circulars. In my opinion, the circulars are ok, but I found them slower, and I knit a little looser on them. They will be great for traveling, though, as I'm terrified of knitting on dpns in the car. :)

Hi SAMers,

Just wanted to let you all know that I'm running a little sock-related contest on my blog. You can find out all the details and see the sock yarn I'm offering as a prize in this post.

I love seeing all the socks everyone's been finishing lately -- who says summer isn't a good time to knit?

Third Socks for May

These were done earlier in the month and just awaiting a refresher kitchener lesson today.

Conwy from Knitting on the Road by Nancy Bush, done in Lorna's Laces Watercolor on size 1 Addi Turbo magic loop. The only modification I made was for a standard toe.

Come visit my blog for more details! www.knitintensity.wordpress.com

I totally forgot to post about my socks here! I'm horribly behind knowing I'm also participating in the 52-pair plunge, but that was to be expected. My life is just to chaotic. I whish I was better in organizing my time better. Dreams ...

Anyway, I finished 3 pairs up till now (quite a few more pairs on the needles in various states of completion). 2 of them were done in April (I was still on track back then), one was done in May.

Click on the pictures to go to my Flickr account for more information about sock yarn etc.

Pomatomus Socks - finished
Pomatomus socks for my sister in Lorna's Laces Shepard Sport (Bittersweet).

Waves socks
Socks based on a design in Sensational Knitted Socks, with the left-over Lorna's Laces Sheperd Sport and black Dale Of Norway Baby Ull. Quick knit for me, I love them!

Then the pair I finished this month :

Anklets
Aklets (toe up) in my own handpainted yarn.

So at least I have May covered. Let's hope June is a bit more productive what the socks is concerned!

Caterpillar socks

These socks were made with Opal Caterpillar, from the Rainforest II Collection in my favorite good ole stockinette pattern, 60 stitches over size one dpns. I must have had a difficult month: the tension on the second sock is unbelievable tight. I've never had this happen to me and my socks before. One sock is tight and the other loose. Good thing I made them for myself. I loved seeing this yarn develop--these socks remind me of the caterpillar of a monarch butterfly.

p.s. I apologize for the photo quality--I'm getting a new camera soon.

Jitterbug socks for May

My May socks are "plain vanilla" ones, knitted in Colinette Jitterbug, colour Marble on 2.5mm needles. The second sock was the fastest I have ever knit. I started it whilst on holiday last week and came home with about 1" of the leg done. I sat down to work on it in earnest on Saturday and finished last night. It absolutely flew off my needles - and no, I didn't knit every waking hour of the Bank Holiday weekend!

One work of caution, though. The toes are done in Jaeger Matchmaker Merino, because I ran out of the Colinette. Thankfully I managed to get a really good match.

These socks will shortly be going in the post. They are a gift for a good friend of mine.

Socks

I have no idea what month I'm on but I finished these over the weekend. I used Sockotta yarn on size 2 cirs. They are cotton and wool blend and I love the way they knit up.
