May Birthday Socks - Waffle Rib II

Yeah - I can finally post after officially joining this KAL back in March. Teaching high school chemistry didn't lend itself to lots of time to complete socks. Summer break is on - so lots of knitting time! These are my May Socks - officially completed on May 28. I was away in Anchor Point, AK on a camping trip & unable to post. These were a birthday gift for my 5 year old son.

I used the Waffle Rib II pattern from the Sensational Knitted Socks book by Charlene Schurch. I LOVE that book & use it for most of the socks I'm working on. For more details visit my blog "The Wandering Stitch."

My MAY socks finished

These were finished on May 30th, whilst I was away. I'd forgotten to take my camera with me, so my friend very kindly took a photo for me. Sadly she hasn't emailed me the photos yet, so as I'm wearing them today, I've snapped a pic, so I can post about them!

Yarn: Opal Lollipop #1009
Pattern: My own "standard" sock pattern
Needles: 2.5mm & 2.25mm DPNs
(for those who read my blog, these are the socks that were responsible for 3 'snapped' needles')

P.S. My June socks are nearly done.

May Socks

I have the May socks finished but I am waiting for the dang cord (for my camera) I purchased on Ebay to arrive. I bought it on the 16th and it still has not gotten here; can you believe it?

Anyway, I finished a pair of socks last night while doing a virtual SnB on Skype with my podcast buddies Stephanie and Shannon. So, the socks are done...just don't have a dang picture, hopefully soon *crossing fingers*.

May Socks On June 1

I was almost finished my socks last night and would have had them done on time. However, I received a phone call that took up my time (it was legitimate, and if things went well I will have good news to report soon, hopefully. If not, then it will be bad news) and I didn't get them finished and photographed until today.I hope they'll still count. I know Chrissy is pretty good about accepting "late" socks for a few days after the end of the month, so hopefully that will continue this time ;o).

These are children's socks, stocking stitch, done with Paton's Kroy (I forget the colourway offhand, but made a pair from this colour last year as well). These will go in my bin for donations on the mitten tree at Christmas.

The stripes started off matching pretty well, with only a row or two difference - that is until I hit the heel flap and it wasn't quite the same after that.

Anyway, I promise to get June's socks in BEFORE June is over...I have 29 days left to finish them ;o).

Monkey's of Barney

Can you tell which part of these socks is not like the other? No? Good.

My May sock are the Monkey socks knit in Barney Rubble by Socks That Rock in medium weight, except for the last inch of the toe on one sock. It is knit in Barney Rubble Lightweight.

There's not a visible difference. But they're two sizes too small for me so I have to hope that the difference felt on my sisters foot is not unbearable. But then again, it might be payback for all the times she's gotten under my skin and just rubbed me the wrong way! Jamie S. at http://knittingbandit.typepad.com/

Last of May socks

I am attempting to post this last pair of CIC socks to the SAM 3 KAL but so far having no luck. I knitted them as Magic 32s, 2 socks on 2 circulars, sz5US, and Cascade 220. This is my very favorite wool worsted and I confess to having enough of it in single skeins to keep me busy for quite a long time. AJW in AZ

PS. I actually did 5 pair this month. One of the pictures has 2 pair in it.

May Socks are Done!

Project: Generic toe up anklets
Yarn: Regia Surf (cotton, wool and nylon) in Rosso colorway; 1 skein; double-stranded
Needles: US size 3s, using my inexact technique of dpns and 2 circs. On these I used Addi Turbos, KnitPick Classic Circulars, and Inox dpns.
Read more about it and my ongoing quest of craziness for the perfect sock making technique for me.

Whew. Just Under the Wire.

Here are my May socks. I honestly didn't know if I would get them done. Do they look at all familar? It seems these socks are catchy... I think that this is the third pair posted on the blog in this colorway.

Trish's Blog Pictures - May 29, 2007 005

The pattern is Jaywalker from magknits and the yarn is Lilypetal from HLMiller. If you get a chance, check out her etsy store. The yarn is to die for - so soft and pretty! And, the skeins are so generous! I still have enough left over for a pair of Jays for my 5 year old!!

Again, check out the details on my blog.

May Socks from Friday May 18

Well, here are my May Vintage SOck KAL socks, the Little Child's SOck from the book.
I used Regia Cotton in (obviously) red, sz0US needles, 2 on 2 circs, and still had to cut the
stitch count from 72 to 64. I also didn't make them near as tall as the pattern called for.
I seem to be prefering my sock tops shorter and shorter, probably because of the increasing
heat. I better get to work and just knit some footies.

Not a Gentleman...

...but enjoying the Gentleman's Socks (with Lozenge Pattern) very much!

I haven't posted the finished socks on my blog quite yet, but you can read how I modified the pattern to fit my dainty size 7 1/2 feet here. I love these socks, and the yarn, which is Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in Java. Mmmmm, java. I wasn't sure I would be able to even finish in time for May, but these socks took me just 2 weeks from start to finish! Luckily that gives me a head start on June, which I'm gonna need...

CIC-Magic 28-SAM3 KAL

Here's a pair of CIC socks I just finished, using the Magic 28 pattern, sz5US 2 socks on 2 circs,
Yarn Treehouse Wool Print, 100 % wool. It is actually a heavy worsted or chunky gauge, so I
think I will go up a needle size if I make the whole sock out of it again. It has so many good
colors in the variegation that I am planning to save the rest of it for trims and stretching other
scraps.
This is my first pair for the SAM3 KAL, and I hope to have another pair by the end of the month.
I have also made a pair of Horcrux socks for the SixSox KAL in April and a pair of Little Child"s
Socks for the Vintage Sock KAL this month, but I don't suppose the SAM3 will accept them, as
I finished them last week before I knitted these.
