I Gotta Stop Doing This!

Waiting for the last minute to finish my socks that is. I'm definitely going to keep knitting socks though.
Pattern: Basic toe-up sock in stockinette with 3x2 rib at the leg, turkish cast-on toes, and short row heel from Priscilla's Dream Socks
Yarn: KnitPicks Superwash Swish in ocean and grey
Needles: KnitPicks Options US size 6s, 2 socks on 2 circs method
Thoughts: I call these the Road to Stitches socks because I cast on the socks specifically for my drive up to Stitches West. For the round trip journey, I got all the way to one heel turned, and finished the rest over a couple of days. These are for DH, who unfortunately, is asleep right now, so he can't model them. Originally intended to be a Christmas gift, they're a tad late, but it's okay, because he got January's socks too.

With an hour to spare....

My F socks are done!
Yarn: Colinette Jitterbug in the Bright Charcoal colorway
Needles: ChiaGoo Bamboo DPN's - size 2.75 mm
Pattern: Simple stockinette sock over 60 stitches
Dates: Saturday February 3-February 28
Mods: n/a
Thoughts: This yarn is a delight - very soft and squishy, with a lovely stretch. That said, I'm not crazy about most of the colors. I'm hoping they expand the line. These will go with many of my outfits, as I tend to wear a lot of black and grey in the winter. I knit them on the 2.75 needles, as the yarn seemed thick in the skein. If I knit another pair, I'd probably go down to 2.5 or 2.25. I was nervous about my yardage (only 280 meters in a skein), so I knit a 6 inch cuff instead of my usual 7-8 inches. I had plenty of yarn left over.

Onto the next pair!

I finished these last night, my second pair for February:
Yarn is Opal 6 Ply, knit top down, standard heel and toe. Very quick to knit socks for my husband, who likes the sport weight sock.

Just in time!

An hour before midnight, I finished my February socks!

Pattern: Just my plain sock recipe
Yarn: Knit Picks Simple Stripes. It was my first time knitting with it and I quite enjoyed it.
Needles: Knitpicks circulars, 2.5 mm. It was actually my first time knitting two socks and once on two circs. It was nice to finish both socks at the same time but I don't think I'll give up my DPNs anytime soon. :)

Yay! I finished in the knick of time!

edited to fix picture!

My first pair of socks after many years. The only pattern I can do. I really have to work with this digital camera, the photos were clear but dark, I fixed the dark and now they are blurred.. ugh!

Sliding in Under the Wire

My first pair of socks completed this year. This is Wendy's generic toe-up pattern with a feather and fan top (pattern available here) knit in 'blossom' nylon/merino sock yarn from Cabin Cove on size 2 needles.

Phew!!! I finished!!!!

I started these socks for my hubby back in November.....but they went on the back burner for a while.....I thought I would finish them for Xmas.......and VDay.......but at least they are done now.

So these are my February Socks! They are knit in Sockatta yarn on size 2 bamboo dpns.....following my own off the cuff pattern! (that is also why they took so long.....I went to the toe too fast......so I had to rip and redo!)

I am relatively new to the blogging world....so feel free to check out my blog and say hi!

Here we have my February socks, knit with Regia on 2.5mm using the Harlot's basic sock pattern cuff down. I just realized it was the end of the month and I totally forgot to post!

Happy knitting,

Right in under the wire!

Hello, hello! I'm sorry about the lateness of my entry--I was in the middle of a second pair of socks when I joined, and I wanted to get them off the needles so I could just post everything at once.

If it weren't for the February 28th deadline on these socks, I probably wouldn't have ever finished them. They were full of fustration. Crazy for such simple socks. Pattern: Dalarna from Knitting on the Road Yarn: Lola from Schaefer Great patttern, great yarn. And weird enough, I'm wearing them now and I like them. Go figure! :O Knitting Bandit

Picture of Feb sock

I finally found my camera. Here is a picture of my Feb socks. I used Lion Brand Magic Stripes and the pattern from the band. I am pretty happy for my first pair of socks. I thought the stripes were going to match, but I lost it somewhere around the heel! I am going to try a toe up pattern for my March sock

Finished!

I finished my Feb socks this morning--and my husband (who is not playing) finished two pairs down to the toes! Check out pictures of the three pairs together on my blog.

First post, three pairs

Well, for whatever reason, I've been knitting, but not posting. So here without any ado are the three pairs I completed this month.

They are Dalarna from Nancy Bush's knitting on the road in BFL from yarnpirate at etsy.com, in the colorway "Fog".

The next ones are Country socks from Nancy Bush's Folk Socks. The yarn is again handdyed by an etsy seller, however, I have lost the tag and will let you know later who from and what it is.

Last but not least are the Seduction Socks from Interweave Knit Spring 2007. The yarn is again from yarnpirate at etsy.com nd is 50/50 Merino and Tencel. The colorway is Hydrangea.

My First Sock Pattern!

I finished my second pair for February, called Diamond Lace Socks:

This is the first time I designed a pattern, and it was so much fun! The pattern is available on my blog at: www.miknits.blogspot.com. The yarn I used was Fleece Artist, and it was wonderfully soft and bright. The colours remind me of a big bunch of spring flowers. I've enjoyed making this sock so much that I'm starting another design already!

February Socks

Gee..I'm a day early! I usually get my monthly socks posted within hours of the end of the month!

STR thujas
STR Jingle Bell Rock in heavyweight. The right sock was Sock 1 and I liked how the colors striped. Sock 2 is ok, I did start the sock at the same place on the yarn...or so I thought...but that's ok! I like them! A bit more info and the leftovers are at my blog!

Feb Socks

Well, I finished my first pair of socks!! I planned on making them for myself, but they actually fit my husband better!! I knit them out of Lion Brand Magic Stipes yarn using the pattern on the band. I will post a picture as soon as I find the camera. Seeing everyone else's beautiful socks is inspiring. I can't wait to start my next pair.

And Three and Four

I forgot to post about these earlier, but in addition to the two other pairs of socks I finished this month already, I've added two new pairs to my own sock drawer in the past couple of weeks.

The details:

Needles: US 1 Addi Turbo 12" circs (two of 'em)

Feather Lace socks for Feb

Here is my offering for February. These are toe-up socks in KP Essential on size 1 circs. The toe is a Turkish cast-on one. The heel is Widdershins. The pattern is Feather Lace (from p 91 of The Encyclopedia of Knitting by Stanfield and Griffiths which I got at a half-price book shop). I basically knitted until I ran out of yarn. In fact, I had to undo the last row and cast-off for the first sock in order to finish the second sock. The sides of the sock are ribbed. The top of the sock (not seen here) is also finished off with a couple rows of p1k1 ribbing. There are a couple of in-progress photos of the socks here and here.
Socks (and also dishcloths) are a nice way to try out patterns. I found this pattern by glancing through the book for a good-looking pattern that could be done over around 28 sts. (In this case, it was 27 sts.)

Gimme an "F"!!

Woo-hoo! I made it with a pair of socks. I ended up picking up too many stitches on one side of BFF. :( Instead of frogging back and trying to figure out how to salvage it, I cast on and finished Susan Pierce Lawrence's Horcrux socks. She created a series of posts that started from choosing your yarn and needles to grafting the toe. Really fun!! More photos on my Flickr.

So Karen, can you "Gimme an F!" ?? ;)

in the knick of time

Sneaking in here with my February pair of socks! I had the first one done a few weeks ago, but knowing I still had time left, I did other projects and came back to finish these up. Already starting on my March socks, loving the colors so much I should finish them relatively quick.

Knitpicks Memory yarn - Cape Cod colorway, in a simple stockinette stitch. I've never done just plain stockinette socks and thought I should, I really like how they turned out, and the yarn is super soft.

Phew! Conwy's Just in Time Socks

Conwy Socks (Knitting on the Road, Nancy Bush) modeled by lovely DD Maura, knit in Mama E's hand-dyed merino. Delicious yarn! Fun pattern. 2nd time I've made them. Was worried I wouldn't finish them in time...

Pics show up better on my blog...

More February Socks

I finished another pair of socks this month. This must be my fourth pair, I think. They are knit with Austermann Step color 02. I normally make sure my stripes match, but I got this skein half price because it had a swatch knit from it. I didn't want to run out of yarn trying to match the stripes, so I just knit. I ended up having enough left over that I could have matched them, I think. Now the Littlest One will be getting a pair. I may have to do solid heels and toes to make sure I don't run out. The pattern for these socks is from The YoYo Knits. I can't get it to link directly to the post, but it's in her January 2007 archive, on the 23rd. It has an Eye of Partridge heel, but it's hard to tell. They took about a week to knit. I can't remember the exact day I started, but I finished them yesterday.
Happy knitting!

PS Don't forget my "F", Stariel! I don't have one yet.

Gearing Up

I'm getting ready to start my first pair of socks for this KAL and am excited to be a part of it! I have the yarn which you can see here on my blog. I almost have the socks done that I started this month. If done in time, I'll post a picture, even though I joined too late for them to count.

February Socks

This is my first KAL and I'm so excited! Here are my Feb socks. I knitted a sweater for my sister and told her that, if she was a good girl, she'd get matching socks! So here she is modeling her new socks. I used Yarn Art Crazy Color, a wool/acrylic blend--nice to work with.

I picked a pattern from Charlene Schurch's Sensational Knitted Socks-- "Chevron Patterns for Self-Striping Yarn." Love that book--Lot's of info and options. This was my first "bullseye" heel and I found it very easy.
I tried to get a closeup of the pattern. It's an eleven stitch reapeat.

Hello!

I'm so glad I found the SAM3 KAL! I've fashioned a sock calendar that can be seen at my blog. My February socks, knitted in Rowan Yorkshire Tweed 4-ply, are done and I have cast on for my March socks. I didn't get into the KAL in enough to submit my socks for February, but March shouldn't be a problem. I created the calendar to keep my projects and thoughts on track for the year, and now, I have another reason to stick to the plan.

Angie (zippyzinnia.blogspot.com)

happy to be here!

This my first ever knitalong and I am so enjoying reading everyone's posts and marvelling at the sock pics that I am running out of time to knit!

So for February I only have "socks finished" rather than a "started and finished in a month" but here they are. Regia yarn (bought in Sweden at New Year) in a basic top down stockingette apart from twisted baby rib at the cuff and a few scatterings of garter stitches for interest. The photo doesn't really show these up I know, I will try and zoom in more next time. Knitted for my glamorous 18 year old daughter. We call them the Brokeback socks because the colours remind us of the colours of a cowboy's shirt - very warming and cosy!

I cast on for garter rib (Sensational Knitted Socks) in poshyarn Lucia this month and ha
ve one and a half socks to show for it. Had to take a break for Valentine's Day....

FO!!!

Well, I have finished my February socks! WOOHOO!!! Despite having to frog the entire gusset, and the fact that they are a bit snug, the socks are DONE DONE DONE! My hands are killing me! Yarn: Trekking XXL in purples, Needles Knitpicks US 0 (should have used Inox 1s), Pattern: Queen Kahuna and then a spiral rib. I'll have pictures up once my dh downloads them from his camera. He's currently quite ill, so I don't htink I'll ask him... :)

Hugs,
tammy (aka cozystitches.wordpress.com)

February Socks!

I got my invite to the blog in time to post these socks I just completed for February :o)

I made them for a swap and I love how they turned out. I'm a little sad that I have to give them away! The pattern is Chalet Socks from Folk Socks by Nancy Bush. I used Lorna's Laces in Grapevine on US 1 DPNs. I followed the pattern almost completely. I only made one modification to the pattern in the back. I continued the back leg pattern down the heel.
